Khatmah Tracker: Plan to Finish the Quran at Your Pace

A khatmah is easy to start and hard to finish. The fix is not more willpower. It is knowing exactly which pages are today's, and having something count them for you.

Updated October 24, 2026 · 5 min read

The Quran in the standard Madinah mushaf is 604 pages in 30 juz. Every khatmah plan is just that number divided by the days you have. The hard part is not the maths. It is opening the mushaf every day and knowing where to start.

Pick a pace you can keep

Here is what the common paces look like in pages per day:

  • ❋A juz a day: 30 days, about 20 pages a day. The classic Ramadan khatmah.
  • ❋Half a juz a day: 60 days, about 10 pages a day.
  • ❋A page after each prayer: 5 pages a day, a full khatmah in about four months.
  • ❋One page a day: 604 days. Slow, and almost impossible to miss.
  • ❋In 15 days or in a week: about 41 or 87 pages a day. For a focused stretch, not everyday life.
  • ❋Before Ramadan or by Eid: count the days to the date and divide 604 by them.

If you are unsure, pick the slower pace. A khatmah you finish late is worth more than one you drop in week two.

Know today's pages, not just the total

"Read 604 pages" is not something you can do today. "Read pages 212 to 216" is. A good khatmah tracker turns the plan into a daily range so you open the mushaf, read those pages, and you are done for the day.

Let the reading count itself

Most people stop tracking long before they stop reading, because ticking boxes by hand gets tiring. In BetterMuslim the pages you read in the in-app mushaf are counted for you, so today's progress ("3 of 5 read today") and your juz count move on their own.

When you fall behind

You will miss days. When you do, the worst plan is to try to read three days' pages tomorrow. If the catch-up gets heavy, BetterMuslim offers to move the finish date so today goes back to a normal amount, or you can keep the plan as it is. Either way, the khatmah stays alive.

Rule of thumb: if today's target is more than double your usual reading, move the date. Finishing matters more than finishing on time.

How the khatmah works in BetterMuslim

  • ❋Start a khatmah from the Quran tab and choose your pace, or set your own number of days.
  • ❋It adds a Quran reading habit to your day, so it sits next to your prayers and adhkar.
  • ❋The home screen shows today's pages and how far you are, juz by juz.
  • ❋Read in the full mushaf, page by page, offline once downloaded, or listen to any surah from 243 reciters.
  • ❋End the khatmah whenever you want; your Quran habit simply goes back to a normal checkbox.
