Ramadan 2027 Plan: Quran, Taraweeh, Fasting and the Last 10 Nights
Ramadan goes well when the habits start before it. Here are the expected dates for Ramadan 2027 (1448 AH), the numbers you need for the Quran, and a plan for taraweeh, fasting and the last ten nights that you can actually keep.

Short answer: Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March; your local moon sighting decides the exact days. To finish the Quran in Ramadan, read about 20 pages (one juz) a day, or 4 pages after each prayer. To finish one before Ramadan, about 7 pages a day from early November is enough. BetterMuslim tracks it all for free: a khatmah planner, taraweeh, fasting and tahajjud habits.
Ramadan 2027 dates (expected)
| Expected date | |
|---|---|
| First taraweeh | Sunday night, 7 February 2027 |
| First fast (1 Ramadan 1448) | Monday 8 February 2027 |
| Last ten nights begin (21st night) | Saturday night, 27 February 2027 |
| 27th night | Friday night, 5 March 2027 |
| Eid al-Fitr | Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027 |
These follow the Umm al-Qura calendar and astronomical estimates. Islamic nights begin at sunset, so "the 21st night" is the evening before the 21st fast. Some countries start a day later after their own moon sighting; follow your local announcement.
Before Ramadan: November to February
- ❋Finish a khatmah first. From early November to 7 February is about 98 days. 604 pages ÷ 98 days ≈ 6.2, so about 7 pages a day finishes the Quran before Ramadan, with a few days to spare.
- ❋Practise fasting. Fast Mondays and Thursdays, or the White Days (13th, 14th and 15th of each Hijri month), so the first days of Ramadan are not a shock.
- ❋Owe fasts from last Ramadan? Plan them now, before this one begins.
- ❋Fix your sleep. Suhoor and taraweeh change your nights. An earlier bedtime from January makes the switch easier.
Quran in Ramadan: the numbers
"The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people…"
| Goal | Pages a day | One way to do it |
|---|---|---|
| One khatmah in Ramadan | About 20 (one juz) | 4 pages after each of the five prayers |
| One khatmah if the month has 29 days | About 21 | 4 pages after each prayer, plus one more |
| Two khatmahs | About 40 | 8 pages after each prayer |
| Half the Quran | About 10 | 2 pages after each prayer |
Pick the pace you can keep on a tired day, not the one that looks best on day one. More in Khatmah Tracker: Plan to Finish the Quran.
Taraweeh
"Whoever establishes prayers during the nights of Ramadan faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, all his past sins will be forgiven."
- ❋Decide where you will pray it: the mosque, or at home with family.
- ❋Whether your mosque prays 8 or 20 rak'ahs, track the nights you prayed it, not the number. Consistency over thirty nights matters more than one long night.
- ❋If you pray at home, read from the pages of your khatmah and both habits move together.
Fasting
"Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven."
- ❋Tick each fast as you complete it, so the days you have to make up later are clear.
- ❋The fast runs from Fajr to Maghrib, so the Fajr and Maghrib times on your prayer screen are your suhoor and iftar times.
- ❋Add one deed for people: feeding a fasting person, even a few dates, is easy to keep every day.
The last ten nights and Laylat al-Qadr
"The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months."
"Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan."
"With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ used to tighten his waist belt, and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers." (narrated by Aisha)
- ❋Plan the odd nights now. If Ramadan starts on 8 February, the odd nights begin on the evenings of 27 February, 1, 3, 5 and 7 March.
- ❋Add a night prayer habit for the last ten nights, even two rak'ahs before suhoor.
- ❋Give a little sadaqah every night, so you do not miss Laylat al-Qadr by picking the wrong night.
- ❋Learn the du'a Aisha was taught for this night:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
"O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me."
